The westernmost point of mainland Europe, where the land meets the Atlantic.

Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of mainland Europe, a dramatic promontory where the Serra de Sintra meets the Atlantic Ocean in sheer cliffs roughly 140 metres above the sea. A stone marker at the lighthouse records the coordinates and the words of the Portuguese poet Luís de Camões: "where the land ends and the sea begins."
The exposed headland is often windswept and offers wide ocean views. On clear days the horizon stretches unbroken to the west, and the cliffs provide a striking contrast between the green of the Serra and the blue of the Atlantic.
GuidedLX includes Cabo da Roca as a stop on private Sintra and Cascais day trips from Lisbon.
