Évora is the principal city of the Alentejo region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located approximately 130 kilometres east of Lisbon. Its well-preserved historic centre contains over two thousand years of history, from the Roman Temple of Évora (the best-preserved Roman structure in Portugal) to the medieval cathedral and the 16th-century Church of São Francisco with its Chapel of Bones.
The surrounding Alentejo plains produce some of Portugal's most respected wines and olive oils. The region is also known for its hearty cuisine, including dishes such as açorda and migas.
GuidedLX offers private day trips from Lisbon to Évora, with the option to include a visit to a local winery.
